It was a emotional moment at the TAG’s Meet the Artiste on 12th September 2012 at TAG’s Conference Hall, Panjim packed to capacity wherein TAG had invited tiatr artiste Diana to be the artiste of the month.

Diana narrated her sad yet a success story of her life wherein after the demise of her husband within a short span of their married life how she raised her family of 7 children and made them worthy persons only by acting in tiatrs. She said that she was the first widow to come on the tiatr stage.

Speaking further she stated that she came from a family having a background of Khell-Tiatr. Her late father Jose Baptista wrote and acted in Khell-Tiatrs. But Diana was not fortunate enough to see her father as he died when she was just one year old. One of her brothers was an actor and the other was a stage contractor. With the backing of her brother and encouragement from her mother late Eufermiana Coutinho Diana became one of the most successful women on tiatr stage.

She was just 8 years when she got her first to act in the tiatr of one of the greatest stalwarts of the tiatr stage the versatile late Minguel Rod in his tiatr ‘Open to Close’. Diana has acted in several village dramas and in the tiatrs of many well-known directors. To name a few she acted in tiatrs ‘Jesjudas’, ‘Devache Vhodd Upkar’ by Ligorio Fernandes, ‘Bekar Empregado’ by M. Boyer, ‘Adim Tem Atam Hem’ by Jacint Vaz ‘Ruzar Manxekar’  by Jr. Rod, ‘Succurina’ by Menino de Bandar and in the Konkani ladies show by Joe Meny. Diana stated that for the last 27 years she is with Prince Jacob Productions and openly expressed her gratitude to Prince Jacob and his wife for helping her in her difficult times.

Besides having such a big family to raise Diana has also taken care of another 5 children by providing food, shelter and education to them and she has also adopted one Hindu girl Rupali who had lost her mother and today she  is happily settled in life and is working in Dubai. Replying to a query raised by Shri. Tomazinho Cardozo whether these children have expressed their gratitude towards this deed of hers, tears rolled down from Diana’s eyes and she said that these children has always kept her in high regards than their own family.

Her daughter Cheryl could not control her emotions when she expressed her gratitude to Diana for raising them with such good education and family values. She thanked her publicly for all that Diana has done for the children. Diana’s youngest son Serjio thanked Tiatr Academy Goa for giving their mother a chance to bring out the struggles of her life and proudly stated that all the children are proud of their mother and also promised to re-release Diana’s audio cassette ‘Savlli’ on a CD very soon. Dianas hard work, punctuality and complete dedication made her one of the most successful actors of the tiatr stage.
