T. Briton shares his Birthday cake at TAG’s ‘Meet the Artiste’ programme

A versatile singer of the Konkani stage Thomas Camelo, popularly known as T. Briton on the Tiatr stage was  invited by the Tiatr Academy of Goa for their monthly programme ‘Meet the Artiste’ held on 17th November, 2014  at the Conference Hall of Tiatr Academy,  Campal, Panaji.  Incidentally 17th November happened to be his birthday too.

Briton stated that his stage life began at the age of 15 when his brother Cruz gave him a chance to sing in his tiatr on the occasion of their village feast. Thereafter he performed for many tiatrs and later on like his brother H. Briton took the stage name as T. Briton.

T. Briton has performed for many popular directors of the tiatr stage viz C. Alvares, C. D Silva, Bab Peter, H. Briton, Menino de Bandar, Mario Menezes, Comedian Agostinho, Samuel Carvalho, Felcy, Fr. Neville Gracias, Pal Soares, etc. Briton has performed not only in Goa but also in the Gulf, U.K and other places in tiatrs and musical shows.

He was awarded the prestigious Kala Gaurav Award by the Government of Goa for his valuable contribution to the tiatr stage.

T. Briton thanked the Tiatr Academy for this memorable day in giving him the opportunity to celebrate his birthday with his fans and tiatr lovers. By demand from the audience, his family members and friends he was forced to sing his most popular song ‘Alice’ with encores.

Earlier Shri Jacob Fernandes, President of TAG welcomed the gathering and later presented a memento to the artiste as a remembrance of this day. Joe Rose, Vice President of TAG proposed a vote of thanks.

Prominent amongst those present were Jessie Dias, Tomazinho Cardozo, Augie D’Mello, J. P. Fernandes, A. Friend, Marta D’Souza, etc.
