Tiatrist Hortencio’s fans got to know him

Hortencio Saluzinho Eduardo Vaz e Pereira popularly known as Hortencio Pereira on the tiatr stage, was invited by the Tiatr Academy as the artiste for the month of October for its monthly programme ‘Meet the Artiste’ held on 27th October, 2014 at the Black-Box, Ravindra Bhavan, Margao.

Speaking on the occasion Hortencio shared his stage life experiences with his fans and said that he first stepped on the tiatr stage in a village tiatr ‘Sukh ani Dukh’ in 1965 at Pontemoll, Curchorem .
Hortencio stunned the audience when he recited a poem without any flaw written by him during his college days which won the first prize. The speciality in this poem was that it was dedicated to all the college girls and sequenced with their names from A-Z.

Having a liking for writing, Hortencio began writing One Act Plays at the age of 17. He wrote several plays and presented them at the Inter Village One Act Play Competitions.

He has acted for almost all the topmost directors of the tiatr stage of his times and is still very much active on the stage.

Apart from performing for others, Hortencio has written and directed his own tiatrs namely ‘Doulot’ (1969), ‘Odruxtt’ (1970) , ‘Onath’ (1974) and ‘Bhas’ (1980).

Hortencio has composed over 500 songs which have been sung by him as well as others. He has also produced 10 audio albums. The lyrics for all these albums are penned by Hortencio.

The programme was attended by Ben Evangelisto, Menino de Bandar, Wilson Mazarello, A. Friend, etc.

Shri. Jacob Fernandes, President of TAG welcomed the artiste and the audience and also presented a memento to Hortencio as a remembrance of the day.
