Annie de Colvale reveals her stage memories

Annie Arcanja Fernandes popularly known as Annie de Colvale was the artiste at TAG’s regular monthly programme ‘Meet the Artiste’ held on 27th May 2014 at the Conference Hall of Tiatr Academy of Goa, Campal, Panjim.

While speaking on the occasion, Annie revealed her stage memories. She said that she came from a family having a tiatr background which developed in her a liking for acting in tiatrs. Her father Antonio Fernandes used to compose songs and also act in Village tiatrs while her brother Diego Ferns and her paternal aunt also acted in tiatrs besides her two sisters.

Speaking further Annie stated that she took up singing and acting while in school for the school concerts and programmes.

Quite skilful in acting, Annie got a first chance to act in a tiatr at Ponda when an actress failed to make it for Krishna de Ponda’s tiatr ‘Ghatki Famil’ in 1989. She remembers this episode till today the courage she showed to perform which was a negative role of a mother-in-law on the spot for which she received appreciation from the audience.

Besides acting for village tiatrs, Annie has also performed for commercial directors’ viz. Tony Martin, Pascoal de Chicalim, Reginald de Panchwadi, Remmy de Velsao, Domnic Carvalho, Jenny de Germany, etc. She has also acted for Zomnivoile Khells during the Carnival time.

Annie likes to specially do character roles and also sing and is gifted with the art of writing. She has penned down many One-Act Plays, Konkani poems and articles which are published in the Konkani magazines, weeklies, etc.

Prominent among those present were well known writers Walter Menezes, Vincy Quadros, Dr. Prakash Vazrikar, Willy Goes and J. P. Fernandes besides Octavio Rodrigues, Sheikh Amir,  etc.

Earlier Shri Jacob Fernandes, President of TAG welcomed the gathering and later presented a memento to Annie de Colvale as a remembrance of the day.
